Congressman Asks Leadership to Delay SCOTUS Vote

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy from the U.S. Supreme Court is prompting reaction from many in the legal profession, and among Washington lawmakers.

Congressman Tim Ryan, from Ohio’s 13th District, including Youngstown, issued a statement reading in part, “if President Trump is able to install another ultra-conservative ideologue to the court, we can only expect it to get worse.” Ryan is referring to dark money in the political system.

Ryan is calling on Senator Mitch McConnell to “follow his own precedent and forgo any vote on a replacement until after the American people have had their voices heard in the midterms.”
